As part of troubleshooting printers the following process steps should be used.

If a step works then the next step can be tested, if a step doesn’t work then all the later steps will not work. Following this process will ensure fast identification of the issue, and prevent changes where they are unnecessary.

  1. Press Feed button on Printer – ensure paper comes out. If it doesn’t then look at printer power and paper. If it prints then proceed to next step
  2. In Windows go to Printers and Scanners. Do a test print to the receipt printer. If it doesn’t print then look at connection between printer and computer. Also check the printer configuration in Windows. If it prints then proceed to next step
  3. Open Epson Virtual Port driver – select the port assigned to the printer (should be LPT1) and do a test print. If an error along the lines of could not open port occurs then check the configuration. If it prints ok then proceed to next step
  4. Open Y2 Register settings for the printer – do a test print from the config window. If I doesn’t print then ensure that the port assigned in Y2 matches that from step 3.
  5. Open Y2 register settings for the drawer – ensure that the port matches that in step 3 and 4, and then do a test. The drawer is connected via the printer.
  6. Test print a receipt.
